ASD Superintendent Dr. Deena Bishop Named Junior Achievement of Alaska Educator of the Year

Anchorage, AK – On Thursday, January 23, 2020 Junior Achievement will honor Anchorage School District Superintendent Dr. Deena Bishop with the award for the 2020 Junior Achievement of Alaska Educator of the Year Award at the Alaska Business Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center. Alaska Business Monthly and Junior Achievement of Alaska are the Title sponsors of this event.

Dr. Deena Bishop has been a strong advocate for students to receive exposure to real-world skills in the classroom by partnering with business leaders and organizations across the state. By helping make education relevant, ASD is ensuring students are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. ‘Superintendent Bishop’s leadership and above-average dedication to the quality of life for students of ASD is exceptional, and Alaska is fortunate to have educators of her caliber in our state’ , says Flora Teo, President of Junior Achievement.

The 33rd annual celebration includes a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., Dinner & Induction Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.. The evening will also include a special recognition of the many past inductees who will be in attendance. Individual tickets are $150, limited sponsorship opportunities are available.
